Andrée has extensive experience in the practice of civil rights law, in particular special education law. She has a long track record of successfully obtaining appropriate educational services for students with disabilities, both through settlement and litigation at administrative, district court and appellate court levels. Parents Let’s Unite for Kids (PLUK) has presented Andrée with an “Angel” award for her work enforcing the educational rights of students with disabilities.  In 2012, Andrée received the Neil Haight Pro Bono award from the State Bar of Montana, for her continuing work as an advocate for people with disabilities.

Prior to joining Morrison Sherwood Wilson & Deola in 2008, Andrée was a senior staff attorney for Disability Rights Montana for over 20 years. She served as lead counsel in a class action and obtained, through settlement, increased community-based services for Montanans with developmental disabilities. Her work in a juvenile justice case led to the discovery of extensive abuse and neglect of teenagers in a juvenile correctional facility, which later closed as a result.

Andrée has represented individuals and worked for systems change on issues such as abuse and neglect of persons with disabilities in schools, institutions and other facilities; guardianship and conservatorship; involuntary commitment; mental health services; developmental disabilities services; employment discrimination; and discrimination in medical care, including end-of-life and forced sterilization issues.

As a local, state and regional speaker, Andrée has given numerous presentations about the educational rights of students with disabilities, the rights of individuals facing involuntary commitment to an institution, and the rights of individuals to appropriate government services in the least restrictive environment.

Andrée received national recognition in 2011 when Disability Rights Montana was presented with the National Advocates of the Year Award based on the life-changing results Andrée and her co-counsel obtained for a young man with autism in four separate legal proceedings they had pursued from 2007-2010.
